Realising the Abundance That Was Always There
I was raised with a deep belief that we struggled. That we had to be careful with money. That we couldn’t afford what other families had. Looking back, I can see how much love was poured into those lessons – how hard my family worked, how much they sacrificed. But for a long time, I carried a heavy scarcity mindset that made me believe life was always going to be a battle.
In my mid-twenties, something shifted. I started reflecting on my childhood with fresh eyes and realised: we were never truly without. We had a beautiful home, a pantry full of food, holidays in random country towns, and private dance lessons. Yes, things were tight sometimes. But there was always enough. More than enough, actually. I just hadn’t been taught to see it that way.
That realisation changed everything for me. Because if I had always lived in abundance without even knowing it, then maybe overflow was already part of me. Not something I had to chase or earn – just something I had to recognise, nurture, and align with. That shift in perspective completely transformed the way I manifested.
You don’t have to chase overflow. You simply have to stop running from the idea that it’s already yours.
Rewriting the Narrative
Become Aware of Scarcity Thoughts
Start by catching those sneaky scarcity phrases. They often sound like: “I can’t afford that,” “It always goes wrong for me,” or “Why would they choose me?” Don’t judge yourself for having them. Just notice them. Awareness is powerful because once you see them, you can question them. Ask: is this really true? Who taught me this? Is this belief serving me?
Choose New Stories That Expand You
Once you’ve identified the old stories, gently start choosing new ones. Instead of “I can’t afford it,” try “I’m choosing to prioritise something else right now.” Swap “Why would they choose me?” with “I bring so much value, and the right people see that.” These aren’t just affirmations. They’re micro-adjustments to your inner narrative that make space for more trust and self-belief.
Let Gratitude Lead the Way
Gratitude is a soft yet mighty force. It helps bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be. When you’re stuck in scarcity, gratitude pulls you back into presence. And from presence, you can expand. Try ending your day by naming three things you’re truly grateful for, even if they’re tiny. Especially if they’re tiny. That’s where overflow begins.
Aligning with Abundance
Create a Sense of Safety in Your Body
Scarcity doesn’t live in the mind alone. It lives in the nervous system. If your body doesn’t feel safe receiving more, it will unconsciously push it away. Take time each day to regulate. Breathe deeply. Stretch. Place your hand on your heart. Sip a cup of tea slowly. These tiny moments of safety tell your body it’s okay to expand.
Surround Yourself with Expansion
Curate your environment to reflect overflow. Clean your space. Light a candle. Unfollow accounts that trigger lack and follow ones that inspire possibility. Overflow isn’t about excess, it’s about richness in every sense of the word. That richness could look like a beautiful meal, a kind conversation, or a Pinterest board full of your dream life.
Invest in What Aligns
You don’t need to spend money to shift into overflow, but you do need to align your resources – time, energy, attention – with what nourishes you. Whether that’s buying the good shampoo, working on your creative project, or saying no to something draining, these choices all whisper: I am worthy. I trust in more.
Overflow is the quiet confidence that more is always on its way.
Becoming a Match for Overflow
Regulate Before You Receive
Sometimes we block overflow because we think it will overwhelm us. That’s valid. Especially if your life has been full of instability. Practise regulating before receiving. That might mean sitting with the feeling of excitement when something good happens instead of numbing it. Or reminding yourself, “It’s safe for things to go well.”
Be Generous Where You Can
Generosity is a portal to overflow. Give your time, your kindness, your encouragement. Compliment a stranger. Tip the barista. Offer support to a friend. Generosity affirms there is more than enough to go around, and you are part of that ecosystem.
Visualise Your Overflow Self
Let yourself daydream. Close your eyes and see the version of you who lives in overflow. How do they move through the world? What do they believe about themselves? How do they handle challenges? This isn’t about escaping reality, it’s about showing your mind what’s possible.
Scarcity taught you to shrink. Overflow invites you to soften and expand.
Your Era in Action
When I started doing this work, I realised that so much of my identity had been wrapped up in scarcity. Always bracing for the worst. Always choosing the cheaper option. Always feeling like I was a step behind. Shifting into overflow didn’t happen overnight. It happened in tiny, gentle ways. It looked like buying the fancy tea instead of the one on sale. It looked like standing in the mirror and reminding myself, “You are allowed to take up space.”
Overflow feels like breath. Like softness. Like exhaling after years of holding it all in. It doesn’t mean everything is perfect or easy. But it does mean you’re no longer outsourcing your worth to your circumstances. You’re grounded in the knowing that more is always available. That life can be generous. That you are not here to struggle endlessly.
This is your era of expansion. Of overflow. Of choosing to believe that something beautiful is on its way, even when you can’t see it yet. And as you hold that belief, not tightly, but tenderly, you start to notice little shifts. An unexpected compliment. A cancelled meeting that gave you time to rest. A moment where you realise you didn’t panic over money, you just trusted. That is how overflow begins. One choice, one breath, one belief at a time.
