Why it’s not your fault (but it is your responsibility)

There was a time I believed that certain things were just out of reach for me. Quite simply, that I didn’t deserve the life and love I really wanted. I’d look at other people and think they had something I didn’t. But the truth is, we all carry beliefs like this at some point. They’re often not ours to begin with. They come from our upbringing, culture, media, and past experiences that taught us to shrink ourselves to fit someone else’s narrative.

But here’s what changed everything for me: realising that while I didn’t choose these beliefs, I was the only one who could unlearn them. No one else could do that part for me. And once I took ownership of that, it was like a weight lifted. I began to recognise my patterns and gently work through them, choosing to believe something different instead.

Manifestation isn’t just about thinking positively. It’s about aligning your energy, actions, and beliefs. And if those beliefs are quietly whispering that you’re not good enough, or that it’s not safe to have what you want, your manifestations will feel blocked, stuck, or slow. Let’s dive into how to shift those sneaky beliefs and unlock your full potential.

Recognise the Belief That’s Holding You Back

Tune in to your inner dialogue

Start by paying attention to the voice in your head when you’re about to do something new or exciting. Does it say, “Who do you think you are?” or “That’s not realistic”? These thoughts aren’t just passing comments. They’re clues pointing straight to your limiting beliefs. The more awareness you bring to your inner dialogue, the more you can interrupt the patterns before they take hold.

Notice your resistance

Sometimes it’s not even words, but a physical reaction or hesitation. Maybe you procrastinate, get tired, or suddenly feel anxious. That’s resistance. And it’s often fuelled by an old belief trying to keep you “safe” by keeping you stuck. Begin to treat resistance as a message, not a roadblock. It’s there to show you exactly where your healing and growth are ready to begin.

Reflect on where it came from

Once you’ve identified a belief, ask yourself where it might’ve come from. Was it something a parent said? A teacher? A moment of failure that left a mark? Knowing the origin can help you realise it’s not an unchangeable truth. It’s just a thought you’ve been carrying for too long. And with compassion, you can begin the process of letting it go and choosing differently.

Reframe and Replace the Old Story

Challenge the truth of the belief

Ask yourself: Is this belief always true? Has there ever been a time it wasn’t? For example, if you believe you’re not good with money, think of a time you made a smart financial decision. One counterexample is all it takes to loosen the grip of that belief. The more you question it, the more it starts to unravel and lose its power over you.

Create a new belief that serves you

Don’t just delete the old belief – replace it. If the old one was “I always mess things up,” try “I’m learning and growing every day.” Make it something that feels gentle but empowering, and say it often. Repetition matters. Your subconscious thrives on repetition, so the more often you reinforce the new belief, the faster it will take root.

Anchor it with evidence

Start collecting small pieces of proof that your new belief is true. Journaling isn’t for everyone (I get it), so try voice notes, sticky notes, or photos that remind you of your progress. Evidence builds trust. And trust builds belief. Let it become a ritual – a way of affirming to yourself daily that your new belief is not just a hope, but a reality in motion.

Embody the Version of You Who Believes

Act like it’s already yours

One of my favourite ways to shift a belief is to act as though it’s already changed. If you believed you were worthy of love, what would you do differently today? How would you speak to yourself? What would you say yes or no to? The smallest of actions, taken from this new place of belief, begin to reshape the way you live and move through the world.

Make your environment reflect your belief

Surround yourself with reminders of who you’re becoming. Clean your space, add affirmations to your mirror, wear the outfit that makes you feel powerful. Your surroundings shape your mindset more than you think. Every small change in your environment reinforces that you are living in alignment with your new truth.

Celebrate the shifts

Every time you catch an old belief and choose differently, that’s a win. Don’t brush past it. Celebrate it. Whether it’s a quiet smile, a happy dance in the kitchen, or a little treat, those moments add up. They reinforce the new pattern. The more you acknowledge the shifts, the more you teach your nervous system that this new way of being is not only safe but joyful.

Your Era in Action

When I started my manifestation journey, I didn’t realise how much of it was about unlearning. I thought I just had to think positively and make a vision board. But what really moved the needle was getting honest about my beliefs – and deciding not to let them rule my life anymore. I began rewriting the scripts I’d been handed, and it changed everything.

There was a time I believed I had to work twice as hard as everyone else to earn the same success. That I had to constantly prove my worth. That I couldn’t rest or things would fall apart. It was exhausting. And it wasn’t true. The more I gently released those beliefs, the more I chose rest, the more space I created for alignment, ease, and genuine magnetism. I began attracting opportunities that matched my energy, not my effort.

Now, I choose beliefs that honour who I am becoming. Beliefs like “It’s safe for things to be easy.” “My success doesn’t need to come from burnout.” “I’m allowed to want more.” And these aren’t just pretty quotes – they’ve become truths I live by. My reality shifted because my inner world did first. And yours can too. This is your Manifestation Era. Make it count.
