The other day, I was reflecting on the fact that it’s almost Summer here in Australia, and how, compared to the UK, we seem to have less of a spiritual connection to the changing seasons. Although I have spent most of the past 18 months in Brisbane, it has felt that every day has been summer since my return from the UK.

In Brisbane, there’s not much of a difference between summer and winter, and the seasons pass us by with little impact or inflection. Adelaide my new home, is a little different where the seasons are more of a Mediterranean in their cyclic changes. However, given I only moved here at the end of August, I largely missed winter!

Yet once again, I digress. Here in Australia, I find we tend to largely ignore the passing of the seasons. Or reflect on the changes that these seasons bring. In the UK, Europe and America, they seem largely more in tune with the seasons and cycles. They practice rites and rituals, also known as traditions, to acknowledge these seasonal changes. Although it may sit outside any specific belief system, these rites and rituals tend to have a deep spiritual connection to the land and seasons.

With this in mind, I began reflecting on how I should incorporate more mindful rituals into my life that connect me with the seasons. Each transition brings with it a unique energy, a rhythm that resonates with the depths of our spirit. Let’s explore how we can connect spiritually with the ever-changing tapestry of the seasons.
